Government would be celebrating four decades of its Statehood from 25th January
State Government would be celebrating four decades of its Statehood from 25th January, 2011 onwards. This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, in his inaugural address at Town Hall, Hamirpur, where he inaugurated the 27th State Level Youth Festival and formally announced its opening today. The festival was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports. He said that year round celebrations would be taking place in different parts of the state by associating local people, especially youth of respective areas in the celebration.
Chief Minister gave a clarion call to the youth to channelise their energy towards constructive and positive activities so that they could excel in all their endeavours and make India World Leader (Vishva Guru) during 21st century. He said that state government was endeavouring to strengthen the rural economy by implementing various policies and programmes to benefit the common man. He said that state had agrarian society and most of income generating activities were dependant upon farming and allied activities, which was being given added attention by the state government. He said that it was a matter of pride the people of the State, as it had been adjudged number one in implementation of 20-Point Programme Programme at the National level by the Government of India. He added that the state had also emerged the Best state amongst big states of the country, which had brought laurels to the state at National and International level.
Prof. Dhumal said that state had also produced best sportspersons who had earned glory to the State. He said that Shri Vijay Kumar, hailing from the state had won gold medals in Common Wealth Games, held at New Delhi and medals in the Asian Games held in China recently. He said that the state Government would be honouring the sports persons in the State level Statehood Day function for their outstanding achievements.
Chief Minister said that 36 Non Resident Indians (NRIs) had also been taken on Himachal Darshan tour by the Youth Services and Sports Department with a view to provide them opportunity to know more about traditional customs and culture of the State so as to carry home good memories thereby contributing towards giving boost to the tourism promotion activities in the state.
He gave a clarion call to the youth to preserve rich cultural heritage of the state and exhibit the same with a view to educate future generations about its richness. He said that PYYKA was also being implemented to polish rural talents and provide them opportunity to come to the fore. He said that large number of sports events were being organized at different level with a view to give boost to such activities.
CM said that state government was committed to give boost to the youth activities through cultural programmes and sports activities at different level with a view to channelise their energy towards constructive activities.
Shri J.R.Katwal, Director, Youth Services and Sports, welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed itinerary of the three day long Youth Festival being organized by the Department. He said that the Festival would be providing opportunity to the budding and talented youth to exhibit their talent. The youth from the State would be representing the State in the National Youth Festival to be held in Udaipur, Rajasthan next year. He thanked CM for enhancing 71 percent budgetary provisions for youth activities and said that Rs. 19 crore had been ear marked for such activities during current financial year. He said that 470 youth were likely to take part in the three day long Youth Festival. A variety cultural programme was organized by the participating youth to mark the inauguration of the festival.

Urmil Thakur, MLA, Shri Pyare Lal Sharma, Chairman, APMC, Shri R.S.Mankotia, Chairman, Kangra Central Cooperative Bank, Shri M.C.Parmar, CMD, Ex-Servicemen Welfare Corporation, Shri Des Raj Sharma, President, District Hamirpur BJP, Shri Deep Kumar, President, MC, Hamirpur, Shri Narender Atri, President, State Janta Yuva Morcha, and other prominent people of the area were present on the occasion.
