Hamirpur---The Young and budding professionals in different disciplines need to avail opportunities by participating in the conferences and seminars to gain knowledge from the experience and findings of experts for implementation in the field.
This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of four-day long 55th Congress of Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, ISTAM-2010, an International meet to mark the celebration of the Silver Jubilee Year of the organization at NIT, Hamirpur, today.
Prof. Dhumal said that there was need for organization of more such seminars to help State bring about qualitative improvement in the existing educational infrastructure. He said that scores of private universities set up in Himachal Pradesh had their affiliation with universities of International standard and were exchanging academics with them. He said that such an endeavour updates the knowledge of the young students about the subject to help them grow as professionals in every field. He underlined the need to spread the light of knowledge to the farthest corner so that every interested person was benefited. He said that the deliberations by the participating experts were outcome of exhaustive research carried by scientists with authenticity.
Chief Minister said that the State Government was ensuring that the findings in the laboratories was carried to the fields so that common man could accrue the fruits. He said that knowledge should be disseminated to the grass root level to benefit the society as a whole.
Prof. Dhumal said that mathematics had been playing an pivotal role in different planning and management activities in public and private sector besides day to day life. He said that it also plays an important role in industrial and environmental details. He said that the conference would definitely educate young mathematicians to gain from the participating experts during the conference.
He extended warm welcome to the delegates from different Nations and from different States of the country to Himachal Pradesh. He congratulated the NIT authorities for hosting such an important conference in its campus. Chief Minister also released a souvenir brought out by the organizers to mark the ISTAM-2010 Conference.
Prof. T.J.Pedley, President, International ISTAM and Fellow of Royal Society, University of Cambridge, UK, who was guest of honour on the occasion, detailed activities of the organization at International level. He said that the
conference would provide participants opportunity to know about the theoretical and applied mechanics at world level.
Prof. R.L.Sharma, Director, NIT, also welcomed the CM and other dignitaries to the campus. He said that NIT had emerged a centre of par excellence vocational education where regular National and International level seminars and conferences were being organized to acquaint students about the latest findings in different disciplines the world over.
Prof. V.D.Sharma, Chairman, ISTAM, extended warm welcome to the International meet and said that it was a rare opportunity for budding professionals to get their doubts cleared informally by the participating experts.
