State Government had launched the ambitious ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ scheme
Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, said that State Government had launched the ambitious ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ scheme to draw the attention of the awakened society to the female foeticide and balance the sex ratio which was essential for the growth of a healthy and strong society. He said that the State Government was also alive to the HIV/AIDS awareness amongst all sections of the society since the disease was incurable and was taking heavy toll the world over. He said that the State had constituted an AIDS Control Society to carry forward with various awareness programmes and save the people, especially youth from falling prey to the dreaded disease. He said that there was need to spread the message across length and breadth of the world to educate people about such a fatal disease and save the people. He appreciated the initiative taken by Shri Chander Bhan Baabla to educate the masses about such societal problems.
Chief Minister was presented a poster, 60 feet by three feet poster on the theme of ‘Beti Hai Anmol’ painted by Shri Chander Bhan Baabla, a resident of Thakurdwara village of Palampur sub-division of district Kangra at Tapovan Vidhan Sabha complex Dharamshala last evening to sensitize people about the female foeticide and decreasing female sex ratio in some parts of the state. He said that a world record 101 kms. Long banner was also being painted to create mass awareness amongst the masses about HIV/AIDS and get the same signed by the people from all walks of life, especially the youth from different countries to express their feelings about the dreaded disease which had so far no cure but precautions and preventions only. He expressed his desire to make it a world record by bringing out 101 kms. Long banner to spread awareness about the HIV/AIDS.
Shri Kishan Kapoor, Industries Minister, Shri Khimi Ram Sharma, MLA and President, State BJP, Members of Legislative Assembly and senior officers were also present on the occasion.
