SHIMLA---With a focus to publicize the lesser known tourist destinations of the state, the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Himachal Pradesh has brought out the Calendar-2011 covering all major tourism products. In the Table & Wall calendars there are 24 beautiful pictures highlighting the tribal & offbeat destinations, pilgrimage, adventure, heritage, people & culture and rural tourism.
Director (Tourism) Dr Arun Kumar Sharma said that calendar is a unique mode of publicity with wider impact round the year and it also helps to promote the untouched tourism places. Himachal Pradesh is so beautiful that while visiting the inner places of the state, you will find more & more beauty and rich cultural heritage, he added. Director (Tourism) said that in order to attract the tourists the calendar would be given to Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India for further distribution to their overseas marketing offices and also in the Embassies located at New Delhi for publicity purpose. The Department is however, regularly running the promotional publicity campaign of the State in print & electronic media also.
Both the Wall & Table calendars have beautiful pictures of Lahaul & Spiti valley’s destinations, pilgrimage destinations & culture, Hamta valley (Kullu), Nako (Kinnaur), Thamsar Pass in Kangra district, Maharana Pratap Sagar, Cricket stadium at Dharamshala, Pangi valley, Dodra-Kwar, Pabbar valley, Chopal, Ranital (Sirmaur) etc.. The calendar highlights the snow covered destinations of tribal areas, rural areas, adventure sports activities and clean environment.
