Himachal Pardesh Cabinet on Tuseday decided to handover handpumps

Dharmshala--The Himachal Pardesh Cabinet on Tuseday decided to handover handpumps to panchayats and municipal councils. Earlier, handpumps were being manned by the IPH Department. The Cabinet meeting was held at Dharmshala. The Cabinet decided to amend the HP Regularisation of Encroached Lands in certain cases and Disposal of Government Lands Rules, 2002. A sub-committee under Revenue Minister Ghulab Singh has been formed to develop guidelines for implementing the decision. The move is aimed at regularisation of encroachments made by poor people in the state.and also decided to delegate powers of giving techno economic-feasibility for micro-hydel projects up to 5 MW to the chief engineer of the Electricity Department.Earlier, the sanction was given by the state electricity board.The Cabinet has also decided to lay a time bar on giving techno-economic feasibility to avoid delays in sanctions.
