Chief Minister today requested the Union Govt to provide 75% subsidy on helicopter services
Bijender Sharma/New Delhi-Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister today requested the Union Govt to provide 75% subsidy on helicopter services in snow-bound tribal and difficult areas of the State to provide affordable and cheap air services to the people living in remote and inaccessible areas . The demand was made by Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal in a meeting with Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram At New Delhi today . He said that snow-bound areas of the tribal belt remained cut off from rest of the world during winter season and helicopter services was the only mode of transportation to these people . He demanded the subsidized air services on the pattern of North Eastern States where Centre Govt is already providing subsidy in air services.
Chief Minister requested the Union Govt to release the financial assistance of Rs 29.28 crore for setting up of 4th and 5th IRB Battalion in the State. He said that though the Govt of India had sanctioned raising of 4th and 5th IRB batallion in the State yet no financial assistance had been provided to the State Govt for raising infrastructure and meeting other expenditures for such battalions.
He stressed the need for strengthening the police training infrastructure to meet the various challenges from external and internal forces and pleaded for Rs 30 crore financial assistance in this regard Chief Minister also requested for central assistance of Rs.146 lakh for upgradation of Civil Defence Training Institute in the State and also requested for Rs. 10 crore central assistance for strengthening Fire Services infrastructure in the State.
Union Home Minister Shri P Chidambaram assured the Chief Minister that centre would take positive view on the demands of the State Government and appreciated the points raised by State Govt in this regard
