SHIMLA----Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, today dedicated the newly constructed Model Fire station at Barnes Court area to the people of the capital, completed at a cost of Rs. 1,66,37,970 today. Shri Suresh Bhardwaj, MLA, Shri Sher Singh Chauhan,. Chairman, Agricultural Rural Development Bank, Shri Rajesh Sharma, President, BJP Shimla Mandal, Shri Ajay Mittal, Principal Secretary Home, Dr. P.C.Kapoor, Principal secretary PWD, Dr. D.S.Manhas, Director General of Police, Shri B.Kamal Kumar, Additional Director General of Police and Commandant General of Civil Defence, Fire Services and Home Guards, Shri I.D.Bhandari, Additional Director General of Police and other senior officers of state administration and police were present among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said that the State Government was strengthening the fire station network in the State and equipping the existing fire stations with latest facilities to meet any exigency. He said that the State had 22 fire stations with one Fire Training Centre at Baldeyan near Shimla, one Fire Post had also started functioning at Theog. He said that 17 Fire Stations were located in different towns of the State. He said that new fire station buildings had been constructed at Rohru, Palampur, Hamirpur and Bilaspur, beside the one which was inaugurated today. He said that a fleet of 104 vehicles had been sanctioned for effective service delivery to the people by the organisation. He said that recently 20 new fire vehicles, 19 fire tenders and one fire engine jeep, were purchased and provided to various fire stations to replace the old condemned fire tenders. He said that during current financial year five more fire fighting vehicles were being purchased to further strengthen the fleet of vehicles.
Prod. Dhumal reiterated the resolve of the government to deliver best services to the people to protect life and property from fire and other accidents. He said that quality infrastructural facilities were being ensured in each of the fire stations of the state besides opening new fire stations to meet the demand of the upcoming townships in the state.
