ADB to assist in tourism infrastructure development
SHIMLA---Funding to the tune of US $ 95 million would be provided to the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Himachal Pradesh, by Asian Development Bank (ADB) for development of tourism related infrastructure in the State.
Dr. Arun Sharma, Director, Tourism & Civil Aviation said this in a meeting with ADB mission here today. He said that the State would be provided around $ US 35 million as the first instalment. Issues like finalisation of bid document, setting up of project Management Unit (PMU) and Project Implementation Unit (PIU), expression of Interest (EOI) for project management consultant, design and preparation of sub-projects were the issues discussed upon in the meeting.
The ADB mission is on three day visit to the State to discuss the project readiness with the Department of Tourism.
The ADB mission is headed by Mr. Atsesushi Kaneko,Senior Urban Development Specialist along with Mr. Vivek Vishal, Assistant Project Analyst with other handholding consultants.
Dr. Sharma said that the department would complete the entire requirements of ADB well in time. He said that PMU would be set up at Shimla and PIU at Kangra adding that the department was submitting the eight sub-projects concept report to the ADB for immediate approval against a total of 20 such sub-projects.
