Himachal Police has so far failed to lay hands ofn the accused

DHARAMSALA: The Himachal Pardesh police has suspected that the prime accused in the murder of a british national charity worker Michael Blakey is hiding in Scotland. The police has appproached the Interpol to seek his deportation, police sources said Saturday.

Michael Blakey was murdered in November 2006 and Himachal Police has so far failed to lay hands ofn the accused. The mutilatd dead body of Michael was recovered beneath near an old British cemetery here.

The prime suspect in the murder case has been identified as Pawan Bharadwaj who migrated to UK shortly after the murder. The police said that Bharadwaj is husband of Michael's colleague.

Director General of Police D.S. Manhas told media persons, "There were certain loopholes during the initial stage of investigation. After clubbing all evidence, we have reached at some conclusion that interrogation of Bhardwaj is a required in this case.

In an interview with the BBC the victim's father Paul Blakey said that he came to know from media that Himachal Pardesh police was re-investigating the case though no body is convicted so far.

The investigating officer DSP Dinesh Sharma has told the media that they had interogated about two dozen suspects including some close relatives of Bharadwaj. The only name figured during investigation is that of Bharadwaj, he said.

Police said that Bharadwaj was arrested a few days after the murder and he was kept in police lock up for few days before he was let off. He then migrated to Scotland along with his wife immediately after his release from the police custody.

The Himachal cops suspect that Bharadwaj might have involved in some financial bungling in charity which was known to Blakey. He had formed a charity named Tong-Len with the help of Bharadwaj's wife in 2004. Huge funds were raised for charity from Britain. The second reason may be some relationship issue between Blakey and wife of Bharadwaj. Police said that victim had head injury and later he was strangulated.
